Dr. Stevan Hunter, PhD, has been semiconductor engineering for 38 years, adding graduate degrees and adjunct university teaching more recently. His primary work is at ON Semiconductor as Member of Technical Staff, Quality and Reliability Engineering. He recently relocated from ON Semiconductor in Pocatello, Idaho to the ON corporate offices in Phoenix, Arizona where his duties also include instructing in ON's Lean Six Sigma program, representing the company in JEDEC Solid State Electronics Reliability committees, especially concerning copper wirebond and GaN reliability, and leading the Design for Superior Products team. Stevan earned his BS degree in Physics from BYU (1978); then MS in Measurement and Control Engineering (2010) and Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science from Idaho State University (2012). He has enjoyed teaching semiconductor, microelectronics, MEMS and statistics courses and mentoring student research as adjunct faculty at both Idaho State University and Brigham Young University Idaho.
Stevan has been awarded 3 patents and has over 35 publications relating to microelectronics. He is active in the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) and Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB). He serves on the education committee in the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA) as a Certified Factory ESD Control Manager. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, active in local and international conference committees, serves as a session chair in the International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society (IMAPS), is a member of the American Vacuum Society (AVS) and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Stevan is now editor of the archival Journal of the Idaho Academy of Science and Engineering (JIASE), having previously served as president as well as symposium director in IASE. When not working and teaching he enjoys doing family history research with his wife and activities with grandchildren. He serves in teaching youth in church and in Boy Scouts, and is a jazz musician.
