Panelists - Richard P. McDermott

Richard P. McDermott (rmcd@Signakey.com) of SignaKey LLC will be one of the panelists for Panel on Electronic Part Authentication at the CALCE SMTA conference at College Park, Maryland on June 25th.

Richard believes that in the ocean of legacy parts, the percentage of fakes swimming around will continue to increase annually as the ID's circulate product - hoping it will be hooked. Counterfeiters no long slip their product into shipments - they spike the batch with a few genuine parts, fully aware of the supply chain weakness. With Flow-down recourse from the DOD Final Rule - simple visual inspection and batch certification is no longer cost justifiable. AC/DC parametric testing per Level C of AS6081 now costs <$20 per part. Such individual component testing is an operand to authenticity.
