Analysis of GIDEP Data for Counterfeit Part Detection Trends : A Talk by Fred Schipp


Fred Schipp (frederick.schipp@navy.mil) of US Navy will present on Analysis of GIDEP Data for Counterfeit Part Detection Trends at the CALCE SMTA conference at College Park, Maryland on June 25th.

Abstract:

Counterfeit electronic parts have been reported through the GIDEP system since 1968. Within the past five years the reporting has dramatically increased. This presentation will examine in detail the evolution of detection methods within GIDEP counterfeit electronic part reports, identify trends in detection methods and findings, and propose a method for quantitying the uncertainty in an authentication report.

Bio:

Fred Schipp is an electrical engineer supporting both the Missile Defense Agency's Quality and Safety organization and the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN. Fred has helped MDA develop robust anti-counterfeit procedures, and has participated in the development of several industry anti-counterfeit standards. He has audited many government contractors and distributors to assess their anti-counterfeit processes, and has used that experience to gain knowledge on counterfeit part trends, supplier weaknesses, and industry best practices.
