Abstract

Counterfeiting is becoming an industry of its own. If there is a profit to be made from "knock offs", then there are counterfeit commodities competing for your business. This presentation will cover the updated status of the SAE AS6174A, Counterfeit Materiel; Assuring Acquisition of Authentic and Conforming Materiel, and its accompanying standards in work/recently released. This suite of standards is intended to provide the process framework and characteristics to counter the broad range of counterfeit commodities outside the EEE arena. In addition, the presentation will highlight some commonly held beliefs/myths pertaining to counterfeit prevention and mitigation and the attendant current and potential issues threatening supply chain integrity.
