Independent Distributors' Role in Securing the Supply Chain

Bio

Jason has served as Velocity Electronics' Director of Quality and Operations since 2001.

His team's primary focus is on enhancing Velocity's value to its customers, quality and operational performance, and efficiency. As such, his team is responsible for the operations of Velocity's three Inspection and Distribution Centers; AS9120 and ISO 9001 certified quality management system; AS6081 certified counterfeit avoidance and detection program; ANSI/ESD S20.20 certified electrostatic discharge control program; ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 certified environmental, health, and safety program; international trade compliance program; and logistical operations.

Jason has served on the IDEA board of trustees since 2009, as a VP of the Texas ESD Association since 2002, on SAE's G-19D AS6081 development committee since 2014, and as the co-chairman of IDEA's IDEA-QMS-9090 committee. He has given presentations regarding supply chain security at numerous industry conferences.

He earned a BS in Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a MBA from the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business.

Abstract

Independent distributors play a key role in the electronic components supply chain. The best independent distributors possess valuable knowledge about sources of supply, threats to quality, and inspection techniques. By using this knowledge to properly select suppliers and inspect product, they are able to provide their customers with pristine product.
