Shannon Mutschelknaus: Shannon wants to live in a world where digital signage looks better than real life, goats climb trees but not fences and products work when he expects them to.
Shannon is a mechanical engineer with more than 12 years of experience at Daktronics Inc. With 6 patents of LED lighting systems, products that he's been a part of are showcased throughout the world at such renowned locales as Times Square New York, Macau China or sailing the seas on cruise ships. He has 5+ years' focusing on electronics cooling design and measurement utilizing CFD tools and thermal testing systems. He has 6+ years' experience designing LED display modules utilizing ray tracing simulations and many types of LED measurement tools. He has extensive experience with the failure analysis and benchmarking of LEDs and LED display systems in his current role leading a team of techs and engineers testing and evaluating products.
When he's not designing the next greatest display, you can find him shearing spitting alpacas, exploring some remote tropical paradise, or making some crazy new project.
His recent venture of analyzing the reliability of recent "Outdoor rated" SMT LEDs discovers a range of unique failure mechanisms that are not well known for LEDs due to the unique set of environmental stresses present in fully outdoor exposed electronics.
