Dr. J. Lynn Davis, RTI International
Dr. J. Lynn Davis is one of RTI's top experts on energy efficiency and indoor environment quality. He serves as director of the Building Technologies and Protective Systems (BTPS) program, part of our Technology for Industry and the Environment (TIE) division. BTPS conducts research on improving indoor environments through technology, including protective systems for potentially hazardous workplaces for the military, medical workers, and first responders.
Dr. Davis's work on solid-state lighting devices has attracted funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. He is principal investigator on a project to develop a reliability model and accelerated life test methods for these devices. This work has been recognized with several awards, including an R&D Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Innovation Award from the Energy Institute, the Durable Product Award from INDA, and an R&D100 Award. For his work in developing international standards, Dr. Davis received the 1906 Award from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
He is a senior member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), has written more than 40 technical articles, and has been granted 46 U.S. patents. Dr. Davis also serves on the U.S. National Committee to the IEC and is an advisory member of the Testing Protocol Committee of the Illumination Engineering Society. Before joining RTI in 2001, Dr. Davis was a manager and research engineer at Motorola for 12 years.
