CalceFAST Windows based User Interface
What is calceFAST Software ?
The University of Maryland Computer
Aided Life Cycle Engineering Failure
Assessment Software Toolkit offers an easy to use solution
for failure and engineering analysis related to electronics packaging. The
calceFAST system is built on the concept of an analysis "plug-in". This provides
a complete separation of the user-interface from the analysis capability.
Individual "plug-ins" are developed to provided desired analysis capabilities.
calceFAST Benefits and Capabilities
- Brings failure assessment capability to any network computer.
- Provides direct access to the failure models.
- Allows parameter sensitivity analysis.
- Provides a easy to use interface.
Description of calceFAST "Plug-ins"
- calceFAST includes the Failure Model Analysis Manager which provides an interface to
CALCE Failure and Analysis Plug-ins.
- Failure Model Plug-ins included with calceFAST include modeling solder fatigue for BGA, CSP, PLCC, PQFP, LCR,
LCC and LCCC packages. It supports different interconnects type like, J-lead,
gullwing, thruhole, PGA, solder-ball and die inserton mount packages.
- Many failure model plugins provide the ability to simulate the effect of multiple stress conditions, modify
distribution parameters, refine different material and stress types
with adding capabilities and export-import different package types.
- In addition to applying multiple stress conditions, many failure analysis plug-ins allow you to
conduct a Monte Carlo simulation. This capability allows you to obtain failure distributions based on
defined distributions on model inputs.
- The software also includes a Statistical Analysis Plug-in using Weibull, Lognormal and
Normal distributions.
- A failure model plug-in for fatigue analysis for plated through holes which
estimates PTH fatigue life when
PTH is subjected to repeated thermal cyclic loads is provided. This plug-in can be used
to calculate
stress and strain inthe barrel with cycles to failure.
- A failure model plug-in for assessing the overstress failure due to a imposed shock load
is also provided. This plug-in allows you to determine whether a part attach will
survive a given shock load.
