CALCE Webinar - Are You Getting the Right Information for Your Electronic Parts?Tuesday, February 16, 2021 11:00 am US EDT
Selection and management of electronic parts require gathering and analyzing information regarding the part. The information requirement goes beyond just functionality and package type. There is a need to gather information on the manufacturers' practices, materials, changes in the parts over time, supply chain, reports on problems, alternative parts for consideration, packaging material, and other factors. Contrary to common belief, information on the commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts is available from many sources. However, these sources that often go unexplored. In this Webinar, Dr. Das will provide a primer on various information sources such as qualification reports, product change notifications, industry standards, regulations, and other sources. The nature of the available information and how to use them for engineering decision making will be discussed. The example application areas will include reliability assessment, part storage condition determination, counterfeit part avoidance and detection, and regulatory compliance. About the Presenter: Dr. Diganta Das (Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, B.Tech, Manufacturing Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology) is a member of the research staff at the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering. His expertise is in reliability, environmental and operational ratings of electronic parts, uprating, electronic part reprocessing, counterfeit electronics, technology trends in the electronic parts and parts selection, and management methodologies. |
