Abstract:
Battery-related fire and explosion incidents are increasing because lithium-ion batteries have
become the first choice for various electronic devices. This work analyzes the battery internal
structure and built-in risk mitigation mechanisms through battery disassembly and
nondestructive X-ray computed tomography. Combined with voltage/temperature monitoring,
battery behavior during thermal runaway incidents is analyzed and classified into three stages.
