Abstract:

The analytical solutions of the ideal laminate theory-based gas transport model are obtained for inorganic/organic hybrid structures used in gas barrier applications. Non dimensionalized solutions are provided for two cases that can be encountered in real applications: (1) gas diffusion-into and (2) gas transmission-through the barrier structures. The two cases represent (1) gas absorption into flexible organic electronic devices encapsulated by barrier structures and (2) the conventional gas transmission test conditions of barrier structures, respectively. The solutions are utilized to address gas transport behaviour in two important practical applications.
