Abstract:

During the design process for a printed circuit board assembly, failure assessment plays a critical role in identifying design weaknesses and in evaluating the expected times to failure. To assure the efficiency of this integrated design process with less non-value-added iterations, the engineers must gather relevant input and build an effective database. This paper proposes methods of streamlining information and data management to aid failure assessment. Case studies are presented to demonstrate these methods.
