Abstract:
The Complementary Operators Method (COM) and its subsequent variation, the concurrent COM (C-COM) when used in the finite-difference time-domain technique, were able to achieve levels of accuracy unprecedented in any previous mesh-truncation technique. The application of the COM and C-COM in frequency-domain (time-harmonic) methods posed numerical challenges that are surpassed by introducing numerical operators that reproduced the complementarity effect. We show how C-COM is applied to the finite-difference frequency-domain method and comment on extension of the method to finite element based simulations.
