Abstract:

The electronics industry has become increasingly vital for emerging industrial countries like China. Since economic reforms started in 1978-9, China's electronics industry has experienced tremendous growth in both product sales and technology development. China's electronics industry can be presented in terms of three major sectors: semiconductors, computers, and telecommunications. This article begins with a brief summary of Chinese economic performance, then reviews the three main sectors of China's electronics industry, and finally summarizes the future outlook for China's electronics industry.
