Abstract:
The development of China's semiconductor industry has become the number one priority of China's Ministry of Information Industries, next to information technology. To boost domestic industry and reduce reliance on imports, the government is putting the semiconductor industry in a position for development, and is encouraging foreign technology and management support. Although much progress has been made, the Chinese semiconductor industry is still far from meeting the increasing demands of its electronics industries. This paper presents the status quo of China's semiconductor industry, comments on possibilities for future development, and notes the opportunities and challenges facing China.
