The Strain Response Of Paper Under Various Constant Regain States

M. Pecht and M.W. Johnson Jr.

Abstract:

This report presents a constitutive model which describes the elastic and viscoelastic behavior cellulosic paper sheets at various scales of stress and constant regain. The model is formulated to: (a) introduce coupled nonlinear stress and regain effects into the constitutive analysis, (b) simplify parameter determination by exploiting some of the unique properties, in terms of stress and regain rheologically simple materials, (c) minimize the number of experiments required for parameter determination, and (d) allow for convenient use by computer-aided analysis techniques.
